TL;DR: A dozen air fryers are on sale right now across Amazon and Walmart, including the popular Philips Viva TurboStar and Avance TurboStar models. (The last time we checked, both of them were priced at under $200 — a savings of up to 41%.)

If you’re planning on showing up to a holiday dinner party with a platter of oily crescent dogs or a tray of bacon-wrapped water chestnuts that are stewing in their own grease, well, you might as well have brought one of Grandma’s famous Jell-O “salads” — nobody’s going to eat that shit.

Enter: an air fryer. This relatively new breed of appliance cooks food by surrounding it with hot air, a process that leaves said food crispy and crunchy without turning it into a grease bomb. Using one of these gadgets to prepare your favorite appetizers and snacks (as opposed to a deep fryer or even a conventional oven) typically makes the end result way less oily and speeds up the cooking process to boot, and we highly recommend adding one to your kitchen arsenal.

The absolute best time to get a good deal on a new air fryer was over Black Friday/Cyber Monday, but if you missed out on those discounts, you’re not totally SOL: Philips’ popular Viva TurboStar and Avance TurboStar air fryers are both on sale on Amazon right now for under $200.

These two devices are actually quite similar, only the Viva is missing a digital interface and the “keep warm” function. Both are equipped with Philips’ patented TurboStar technology for even heat distribution and boast a 1.8-pound/2.75-quart capacity — plus, their drawers and food baskets are removable and dishwasher-safe.

The Philips Viva TurboStar Air Fryer is up for grabs right now for only $147.98 (down 41% from $249.95), and the Avance TurboStar is going for a mere $199.99 (down 33% from $299.95). Both prices are a steal, TBH — but if you’d prefer an air fryer that won’t put as big a dent in your holiday budget, that’s chill; here are some other (cheaper) models that are currently on sale across Amazon and Walmart:
